Combating Signs of Aging

In this day and age, people see themselves every single day in mirrors, reflective surfaces, photos, or anytime they may accidentally open the front camera on their phone. On top of that, social media’s prevalent forces are constantly exposing us to photos where people have seemingly perfect, airbrushed skin. This tends to lead to self-consciousness and insecurities, especially when you notice changes in your skin’s appearance.

It can be emotionally taxing to see signs of aging develop on your face, especially when there is no easy way of hiding or disguising them. Aging signs catch up to everyone eventually, usually in the form of fine lines, wrinkles, and brown spots. Although aging is natural, many people dislike showcasing its signs on their faces, especially when those signs make them look more exhausted and weary than they feel. Anti-aging chemical peels provide an option for rejuvenating the face and addressing signs of aging.

What Is a Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels are minimally invasive treatments that remove damaged skin cells and improve the skin’s overall appearance. PREMIERE Center for Cosmetic Surgery offers anti-aging chemical peels, allowing patients to rejuvenate their skin and enjoy smoother, youthful-looking results.

The treatment uses an acidic solution, allowing the surface levels of the skin to be exfoliated and eliminating dead and damaged skin cells. After receiving a chemical peel, it is normal for your skin to have some redness and flakes. You may also find that your skin feels tight. These symptoms are temporary and typically last a few days.

What Are the Different Types of Chemical Peels?

Everyone’s skin is unique, so it’s only natural that we all have different skin concerns and facial goals. Whether you have minor blemishes or deeper wrinkles, there’s a type of chemical peel that can give you glowing, youthful-looking skin.

At PREMIERE Center, we offer three levels of chemical peels:

  • Level 1 – Superficial Chemical Peel
  • Level 2 – Medium Depth Chemical Peel
  • Level 3 – Deep Chemical Peel

The superficial chemical peel is a great option for patients who have some age spots and other blemishes. With this treatment, the epidermis—outermost layer—of the skin.

For those who would like to smoothen fine lines, the medium depth chemical may be the ideal choice. This chemical peel option treats the epidermis and dermis layers, which are the top two layers of the skin. Patients with pigmentation issues and acne scars may also benefit from this level 2 chemical peel.

If deep wrinkles and lines are your main concern, then a deep chemical peel can help you reach your skin goals. This level 3 peel treats the lower dermal layer, allowing it to improve the appearance of wrinkles and lines.

How Soon After a Chemical Peel Will I See Results?

Depending on the type of chemical peel you receive, it may take a few days to two weeks for your skin to show results from your treatment. During your consultation, you’ll be informed of what timeline to expect for your results. You will also receive aftercare instructions involving washing your face with a gentle cleanser and wearing sunscreen. Most patients will need to refrain from wearing makeup for a few days to a week to avoid irritating the skin after treatment.
