The essence of a breast augmentation is to create an adequate pocket size in the breast for a sub glandular or sub muscular implant placement. The pocket should 20% larger than the base diameter of the implant. If in the immediate post period fluid develops you may have a capsular contraction, in which case you need to see a board certified plastic surgeon. However the issue may resolve on its own within the first 6-8 months after surgery, if not the pocket may need to be reopened.
